582372_10150799899566065_634613895_nI started running after I (officially) quit smoking, and it seemed like the most natural thing in the world. I was also fortunate enough to make the acquaintance of Swiss marathoner and physio Phil Rist, who assessed a longstanding knee injury and enabled me to keep going. That was in early summer 2006.

It doesn’t matter how many hundreds of times I’ve proved to myself that the way I feel having run is of itself  reward enough, there is still the temptation to stay in and stay dry, to do something else. I have other interests! This blog is another facet of my running life. I visit the blogs of other runners to find inspiration and remind myself of my own running goals. And now I write my own to relate to others my own experience, and to know that there comes a time when I must post, and a time when I must race.

Club: Lions Gate Road Runners.
