Up the ladder and down in flames

Well, insofar as it’s possible to go down in flames when the rain is pouring down. At the track last night, we did a ladder workout (400, 800, 1200, 1600, 1200, 800, 400m in 1:16, 2:39, 4:12, 5:42, 4:16, 2:47 and 1:13). For once my times were fairly consistent, though I slowed down overall on the way down, partly because of the rain. It wasn’t exactly bouncy, but it wasn’t too bad.

A slight change in emphasis to the plan: previously I’d decided to do a medium long run on Wednesday. Although this isn’t a very taxing workout, neither is it all that important at this stage, and I’ve realized that I need more recovery between the Tuesday and Thursday workouts. I may try a medium long run on Saturday once I’m confident that I’ve recovered 100 per cent (I’m about 90 per cent, at the moment).

Wednesday: 4 miles. Yesterday: ~ 6 miles (including warm-up and cool-down).
